Hi
I am an American that has been living in Germany for three years now. I was recently told by several people that it would be possible to get my renteversicherung back when I move back to the states. Does anyone know anything about that or have any experience actually getting money back? It seems like it would be thousands of Euros. Danke!

You should contact BfA for application. If you live in Germany less than 60 months and paid their tax most likely you will get back everything you paid for renteversicherungs. If you stayed longer than 5 years you need to wait 2 years after the application and they will send the money to anywhere in the world.
